What does it mean to be Mastering Life? My name is Jen Thompson and I'm the Chief Vision Officer here at the Mastering Life Institute where we are on a quest to personally master our own lives and are inviting you to join us on the journey. By mastering we mean to consciously and permanently accept student status - in effect to wear the martial arts white belt of the novice, to blindly but actively explore in the dark. The more we learn the more we realize we don't know crap, oh, by the way no one else does either and both situations are actually a good thing. In fact, the more we embrace how wrong we are about the things we thought we knew the more we open ourselves up to completely new experiences of the world and realms of discovery.
Here's a thought experiment - imagine past lives exist and you've lived many times over the course of human history - let's randomly say 50 times. If that's true you've been both genders (maybe even gender fluid), many nationalities, many religions, many races, multiple socio-economic classes. You've farmed, fished, were a craftsman, a statesman, clergy, a soldier and have parented a TON of children. You're likely to have died during child birth, been a master, a slave, raped, a rapist, an immigrant, an outcast, sickly, disabled, killed. You have also been adventurous, brave, brilliant, desired, loved, loving, happy. In short, you have been everything you want to be and everything you don't ever want to be again.
Whoever you've been, every time you choose awareness the slate is clean. Ask yourself, "who do you WANT to be now, in this moment?" Practice. Ask again. Practice. Repeat for the rest of your life, no matter how long that is. Slowly, over time, you will become more than you ever dreamed possible and will find it hard to believe you ever were those other things - even if it's only in THIS lifetime.
